Olympia Great Strides 2002
This was the first time for a Great Strides event in Olympia. Held on June 22nd, the walk began and ended at Heritage Park, adjacent to the state Capitol. While there's still some areas closed because of the February 2001 earthquake, the skies were sunny and the 4-mile course was easy to walk. After the walking was done and the hot dogs were eaten, the 200 walkers raised $31,000. The Troopers senior members (Carol and Robert) finished their World Tour '02 here, completing their seven-week fundraising odyssey.

Here's the start of the walk as we head around the shore of Capitol Lake with the dome in the background.
We were met at the halfway point by a bunch of enthusiastic Brownies directing us to the goodies.
Thanks to the Brownies, everybody found the goodies with no problem!
The core people of Gidget's Group, Brent, Brandie and Kris Maxwell, came down from Tacoma to walk.
The Maxwell family portrait wouldn't be complete with their dogs Ruby and Patch!
We borrowed the Maxwells, sans dogs, for a group shot.
Allison from the CF office and, as promised, her hubby Ty did their usual excellent job. Shelby was around as well, but somehow avoided the camera!
