David Fanning was 32 years old when he lost his battle with CF in 2002. One of David's fundraising achievements was playing 65 holes of golf, so it was a natural to hold a golf tournament in his honor. This year was the third annual tournament and the first one I've played in. My golf game has gotten rustier the last few years, and I'd only played one round this year, but I dusted off the irons and tightened up the spikes.

Russ convinced his golf buddies Chuck and Aaron to play, and our foursome was ready to go. The best-ball format helped cover up for the lousy shots and take advantage of the good ones. My best shot of the day was nailing a crow in flight with a hooked drive. The bird was knocked to the ground but flew away after a few seconds.

Our team finished with a one-over 73 for the day, nothing to write home about but everybody had a great time. Outback Steakhouse fed us well and the course at Hawk's Prairie was great.

Okay, we were one over par, but the food was good!
